The Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society’s Collections Department cares for two on-site collections: The Society’s collection and the Parks Canada collection. The Gulf of Georgia Cannery’s fascinating collection of canning machinery, tools, fishing implements, household goods, historic photographs and archival records illustrates the history of the west coast fishing industry.

This summer we digitized our entire historic photo collection. Over 5,000 images depicting early Steveston and its residents, canneries along BC’s coast, including the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, and the trials and blessings of the west coast fishery will be available for viewing by the public for the very first time!
