Salmon farms: what’s happening where?

The Globe and Mail reports that scientists are having a hard time getting a complete picture of what happens when sickness breaks out in salmon farms. According to a report released by the University of Victoria, the government does not disclose the exact location of a disease breakout and the general information released is not enough to prove useful for scientists’ research. The information that is released is frequently delayed. This means that scientists do not have the resources to study if and how the diseases might be transmitted to wild salmon and ultimately affecting their runs.
