The Gulf of Georgia Cannery has a fun-filled weekend in store for you!

Celebrate Chinese New Year! Explore the Cannery and learn more about Chinese history in BC and how integral Chinese workers were to canneries in Steveston. Kids can enjoy fun and interactive crafts, activities, games and a surprise give away,  running from February 9th to 15th.

The Steveston Winter Farmers’ and Artisans’ Market returns! Yes, the much anticipated market is back this Sunday, February 10th and runs every second weekend from now until April. Join us for some great food, beautiful arts and crafts, and an enjoyable community event! Dress warmly – the Cannery is still cool this time of year! The market runs from 11am to 4pm.

Kids enter free! As BC is celebrating its first Family Day long weekend, the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site is offering free youth admission on February 9th to 11th. This is a perfect opportunity to take part in the festivities taking place this weekend.

Fish heads, Fish tails! We are starting to see fish heads and tails, which means the coho salmon we are raising are beginning to hatch! Currently, the coho are transforming from eggs to alevin. Not too sure what this means? Come by the Cannery and check out the aquarium, the hatch-lings, ask our interpreters questions, and learn some fascinating facts about the salmon life cycle. This is a very exciting time!
